PROJECT - WARD (Wander, all roads deliver)

As a listener, you will go on an illustrious adventure with Wander, All Roads Deliver, or WARD for short. In this forty-minute journey, the senses of the human mind, body, and spirit are opened to explore a deeper meaning within one’s self. In a cinematic display, you can see the passion, determination, and drive that Tutt has as he plays on the electric cello. Within the first ten minutes of the performance, you get a sense of being in nature, enveloped in the sounds of creation. At the beginning of the video, Tutt talks about how he would go into the studio to play, particularly during the onset of the pandemic, and that those sessions would take place late at night and into the darkest hours of the morning. The etymology of the word WARD is from Old English weardian “to keep guard, watch, protect, preserve,” (etymonline.com) which leads one to believe that the creative ingenuity behind the music, unctions the protector, guard, or hedge for our souls to experience a resounding connection with one. Ward can also mean you’re moving toWARD, afterWARD, inWARD, outWARD, which further denotes that this wonderment through a euphonious escapade delivers you right back to the seat of the soul. Creating with others in an immersive composition experience allows for the artist and the receiver to participate in active roles. Tutt discusses his evolution of recording, explaining that this project was recorded in real-time with nothing pre-planned, scripted, or written. Equipped with only his cello, a looping device, and his mind, he goes diving deep within, capturing moving motifs full of emotion, and lifting the vibration of consciousness. Being drawn into and experiencing the process is the goal of Tutt.
