// A Forest For the Trees //

Music and nature share a common language—one shaped by rhythm, resonance, and time. The natural world is alive with sound, from wind through trees to water in motion.

The cello, with its deep and expressive range, echoes these elements with unusual clarity. Its voice carries both weight and warmth, capable of evoking landscapes, movement, and stillness. Few instruments translate the physical world into sound as intuitively.

Composer and cellist Keith Tutt II operates at the intersection of acoustic and electronic music, crafting immersive ambient performances that function as evolving sound environments—meditative, expansive, and emotionally grounded.

In a 70-minute real-time composition titled A Wander, Through the Trees, Tutt led audiences through a continuously unfolding musical journey. The performance took place inside A Forest for the Trees, an immersive installation by HighSeas (Glenn Kaino x Dave Sitek). Set within a 28,000-square-foot space in downtown Los Angeles, the exhibition transformed the environment into an interactive forest of light, sound, and illusion—featuring gesture-controlled fire, responsive trees, walkable water, and multisensory storytelling. Developed in collaboration with journalists, tribal leaders, environmental scientists, and a multidisciplinary team of artists, the installation provided a powerful and fitting context for the work. https://www.aforestla.com/
